WILMA ‘Hetty’ HELEN (HAUG) THOMAS

Wilma Helen “Hetty” Thomas, 94, of Lemont Furnace, PA, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Saturday, February 11, 2023, in WVU Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, PA. 
She was born September 13, 1928, to the late Ernest Emil Haug and the late Mary Catherine (Freiburg) Haug in Connellsville, PA. 
Wilma was a banker by trade. She was incredibly proud of her banking career. She worked many years for Gallatin National Bank where she was a successful manager. Upon retiring from the bank, Wilma worked part time at the local post office. 
She belonged to many organizations, including the National Association of Bank Women and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, where she was the local chapter president for some time. 
In her spare time, she was an avid reader.  She also thoroughly enjoyed listening to jazz music. Wilma was a talented artist and writer and has left behind many examples of both for her family to cherish for years to come. She also enjoyed using her creative talents for church events and activities. She will be remembered for making Vacation Bible School and Sunday school classes extra special and enjoyable for those that attended. 
She most recently attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Connellsville, PA. 
Wilma is survived by her children, Robert (Laura) Thomas and Lydia B. Fields; grandchildren, Bryah Thomas, Grace Tuggle, Kate Norton and Lily Fields; three great grandchildren; sister, Norma M. Robinson; and niece, Carole Taylor. 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 25 years, Robert Allison Thomas; siblings, Mary Elizabeth Balsley, Anna Kathryn May, Ernest Emil Haug and Lillian Ann Haug. 
Friends will be received at Burhans-Crouse Funeral Home, 28 Connellsville Street, Dunbar, PA, on Thursday, February 16, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the hour of service with Pastor Lee Maley officiating. 
Private inurnment will be held at a later date in Fairview (Percy) Cemetery. 
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Wilma’s name be made to Fayette EMS; 102 W. Crawford Ave., Connellsville, PA, 15425.
