Thomas Cecil Hatfield, 73, of Dunbar, died on Friday, December 22, 2023 at home.
He was born on March 17, 1950 in Baltimore, MD, to the late Cecil Hatfield and the late Ida Belle (Zebley) Hatfield).
Thomas served in the United States Navy during Vietnam. Upon his return, he was an auto worker at the Volkswagen plant in New Stanton, PA, for many years.
He will be remembered as a man who loved the Lord and had taken the necessary training classes to teach in the Methodist church. He was a scholar, in many ways. He enjoyed taking college classes throughout the years and read two books a week. He was truly a brilliant man.
Thomas loved to fish and was most proud of the time he spent being a volunteer at the Yough Fishermen’s Club. He also thoroughly enjoyed attending ramp festivals and had collected countless festival pins to prove it! He was a unique man with many skills and interests that left his mark on the world during his time here.
He is survived by his children, Alicia Lee (Jay) Weinrich, Elizabeth Maria (Larry) Holmes and David J. (Kathryn) Hatfield; three grandchildren; siblings, Franklin Delano Hatfield (Patricia) Hatfield, Robert Wayne Hatfield, Clinton McCord (Cindy) Hatfield, and Rhonda Sue (Said) Nassar as well as nieces and nephews.
Arrangements by Burhans-Crouse Funeral Home, 28 Connellsville Street; Dunbar, PA.
Per Thomas’ wishes, there will be NO PUBLIC VISITATION or SERVICES HELD.
