Gilbert Anthony Dean, 86, of Hopwood, PA, died on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, in Laurel Ridge Center Nursing Home, Uniontown, PA.
He was born on November 25, 1936 in Dunbar, PA, to the late Glenn Morgan Dean and the late Mary M. (Ruse) Dean.
He belonged to St. John the Evangelist Church, Uniontown, PA.
Gilbert had an incredible work ethic. He was just six years old when he began his first job as a pin setter at City Bowling Lanes in Connellsville, PA. He went on to work as a store manager at Gatlings Automotive Sales, also in Connellsville, for many years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed several hobbies. He was a long-distance runner, played the guitar, loved to fish, ride his bike and was particularly talented at building things.
Above all else though, he will be remembered as a loving, dedicated husband and honest, caring man.
He is survived by his daughters, Christine (George) DeOre and Patty (Rick) Laughery; grandchildren, Ashley (Mike) Philburn, Derek (Kelsey) Laughery, Nick Laughery and Holly DeOre; great grandchildren, Nash, Aspen, Indie, Easton, Rowan and Maxine; sibings, Vie (James) Coliny, Hilda Dolan, Dan (Linda) Dean, Sue (George) Miller, Betty Felentzer and sister-in-law Rose Dean.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy J. (Brownlee) Dean; siblings, Audrey Morrison, Theresa Fike, Tom Dean and Joe Dean as well as brothers-in-law, Pete Morrison, Paul Fike and Butch Felentzer.
Friends will be received at Burhans-Crouse Funeral Home, 28 Connellsville Street, Dunbar, PA on Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Monday, October 30, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Ranch Rd., Dunbar, PA, with Fr. Paul Lisik as celebrant.
Interment will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Dunbar, PA.
