John Ramon “Jack” Martin, 74, of Dunbar, PA, died on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in AHN Jefferson Hospital, Jefferson Hills, PA.
He was born on April 1, 1952, at his grandmother’s house on Gouker Road, in Dunbar, PA, to the late David Hernry Holmes and the late Ruth Ann (Watson) Holmes.
John will be fondly remembered as loving his family above all else. He was happiest when spending time with them. His daughter, Polly, often took vacations all over the country with him and will hold the memories they made together while traveling close to her heart.
In his spare time, Jack had many hobbies. He thoroughly enjoyed gambling. His family has many special stories to carry them through the difficult times when they are missing him most of their many fun times gambling together!
He also really enjoyed fishing and camping.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice M. (Hall) Martin; five children, Mark, Bob (Sharon), Polly (Jim), Jacqueline, and John (Haley); eight grandchildren, Lauren, Cassidy, Ashlee (Andrew), Martin, Kelsey (Cody), Ali (Ryan), Jonathan (Malea), Harley (Johnny); eight great-grandchildren; seven siblings, (Karen), Ky (Rex), David (Marie), Nancy (Pete), Virgil, Rob (Lawra), Mike (Karen); many nieces, nephews, cousins, a multitude of friends; and “Lil Bugger” his dog and best friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents; sister, Sheila; brother-in-law, Henry, and niece Heather.
A private family-only visitation will be held at Burhans-Crouse Funeral Home, 28 Connellsville Street, Dunbar, PA, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., the hour of service, with Chaplain Jamie Bryant officiating.
