Jerry Wayne “Tuff” Wingrove, 76, of Dunbar, PA, died on Monday, August 26, 2024, in UPMC Greene Hospital, Waynesburg, PA.
He was born on September 21, 1947 in Hopwood, PA to the late Clark Wingrove Sr. and the late Clara Elizabeth (Brooks) Wingrove.
In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing; taking walks and berry picking. He would often use the berries he picked to bake, making the best jellies and pies; though his cinnamon rolls were famous as well. He had the biggest heart, often saving stray animals and will be remembered for his kindness.
He played softball for many years and had a love for Bluegrass music.
He is survived by his wife, Christine (Childs) Wingrove; five children, Shawn (Bonnie) Wingrove, Shane Wingrove, Shad (Donna) Wingrove, Ray Shaffer and girlfriend Melissa Hogan and Kayla Wingrove and boyfriend Tim Frye; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; siblings, Jim Wingrove, Joseph “Monk” (Carrie) Wingrove, JoAnn Arvin, Drea (Steve) Burnsworth, Cathy Wingrove, Clark “Jock” (Donna) Wingrove Jr. and Christina (Tom) Yekel; as well as his best friend, his beloved dog, Sassy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Raymond Wingrove, Marjorie Tressler, Geraldine Garcia, David Wingrove, Marlene Wingrove, Melvin “Moose” Wingrove, Sandy Plesz and Kirk Wingrove.
Friends will be received at Burhans-Crouse Funeral Home, 28 Connellsville Street, Dunbar, PA, on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., the hour of service with Pastor Lee Maley officiating.
Interment to follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Dunbar, PA.
